Aru and I got to Tokyo after two hours on the train from Kyoto. We’d barely walked out of Ginza station when the pedestrian lights stopped us. My first thought was “fuck, that’s so cool”, and we stood there taking photos and videos of how they worked.
Tokyo is a walking city, and we were averaging 28,000 steps a day, so we kept running into the same crossing design over and over. Of all the things Japan does well, this was the one I had to document.
That’s how this ended up existing. Now everyone gets to see how nerdy I am. I owe a lot to Japanese design and its habit of overcommunicating, in the best way.
